Scholarships

Students have several scholarship resources to help finance their education and educational experiences at San Diego State University. The list below provides information and links for scholarships offered through the School of Communication, College of Professional Studies and Fine Arts, and San Diego State University.

We encourage students to submit a FAFSA early in the academic year and attend to various scholarship deadlines.

Scholarships are also an excellent way to donate to the School of Communication.

Sara Stelzer Study Abroad Scholarship

The Sara Stelzer study abroad scholarship was established in 2015 to help financially deserving students participate in an international experience. The College of Professional Studies and Fine Arts will award this scholarship twice a year to students who have financial need. Award amounts range from $500 to $1000 per student. Students must be in academic good standing to apply.

Cameron Brown Average Student Scholarship

The scholarship was named after Cameron Brown who loved people, laughter, music and sports.

Open to any major in PSFA. Open to undergraduate and graduate students. Contact the College of PSFA directly.

Gracia Mae Ogden Memorial Scholarship

Open to all Communication and Health Communication undergraduate and graduate students. Undergraduate students must be enrolled full-time. Graduate students must be enrolled in a least 6 units.

Hilda and Colonel Robert L. Dodge Endowed Scholarship for Air Force ROTC

For upper division undergraduate students who are Air Force ROTC cadets at SDSU.

Paul J. Strand Endowed Scholarship

Recipients must be pursuing a minor in International Studies.

Thomas P. Newton Endowed Scholarship

Recipients must be graduates of a California high school in the counties of Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solano, or Sonoma.

Named after Kevin Simmons who was a former Director of Forensics.

Robert L. Benjamin Scholarship

Recipients must be active members of the SDSU Forensics Team during the academic year for which the scholarship funds are awarded.

Carole Robasciotti Endowed Internship Scholarship

Must be enrolled in a for-credit internship class or participating in a volunteer or work experience. Open to sophomores, juniors, and seniors.

Joyce M. Gattas Scholarship for Internships and International Experiences

College of Professional Studies and Fine Arts (PSFA) Emeritae Dean Joyce Gattas established a scholarship to support her vision and commitment for PSFA undergraduate and graduate students to globally educated and have access to invaluable international study abroad and internship experiences.

Recipients must be participating in a study abroad experience sponsored by the Center for Surf Research during the term for which the scholarship funds are awarded.

The Mundt Memorial Peace Scholarships

These scholarships offer the opportunity to gain intercultural experience, contribute to the San Diego community, provide assistance to new immigrants, strengthen your resume, and enhance your Peace Corps application. The scholarships are through a generous gift of the Mundt Memorial Trust to the SDSU Peacemakers Foundation. The Mundt Trust seeks to encourage SDSU students to have an impact in the community and to consider serving as Peace Corps volunteers through this scholarship-internship program. Intercultural learning and community volunteer experience significantly increase the likelihood of a successful Peace Corps application.

Critical Language Scholarship

CLS, a program of the U.S. Department of State, is an 8-10 week fully-funded summer intensive overseas language and cultural immersion program. The program includes intensive language instruction and structured cultural enrichment experiences designed to promote rapid language gains. Both undergraduate and graduate U.S. citizens are eligible to apply.
