DANIEL J. CANARY (Ph.D., University of Southern California) is a lecturer in the School of Communication, San Diego State University. A current member of several editorial boards, Dan has been co-author of over 40 research articles, 10 scholarly books, and 45 chapters or other academic contributions. His research interests include communicative processes regarding interpersonal conflict management, relational maintenance and conversational argument. Professor Canary is the former president of the Western States Communication Association and the International Network on Personal Relationships. In 2017, Dan received the Western States Communication Association Distinguished Service Award. He enjoys traveling, writing, and taking his dogs (The Artful Dodger and Pepper) on walks.
